women

i am one of those people who has been given the gift of wonderful women in my life. each one crafting and sharing one of their gifts with me in a way that carves very deep valley's in my spirit. the kind of valley's that lead you to being a better person.

maxine's gift was unconditional love. i miss her the most in life and even after 4 years, i find myself pushing "grandma" on the speed dial on my cell phone. i guess we are all the same and come from the same place, as i know those of us who have lost a loved one, feel the same heart break and loss that cannot be described without experience.

as some of you know "brock street" was the name of the street my grandparents home was on and there is a tremendous amount of sentiment in the name and i really wanted to remember her today.

i just have to put some pictures of her up as i couldn't be more proud and want nothing more than to remember her and her kindness, simplicity and open heart. what a lovely lady.

Hello:
Old black and white photographs are so evocative of times past, and these are no exception.

Your grandmother sounds a remarkable woman and it is so nice that you are choosing to remember her in this way. The dead only really die when we cease to think and talk about them.

It's wonderful to see such happiness in old photos. You can really see Maxine's heart through that smile of hers...the love and joy just eminate from her...she truly left you a beautiful legacy, one that will stay with and surround *your* heart forever, there couldn't be a more perfect gift to leave your love ones than that.
Your blog with it's name and "kind and simple" content, along with posts like this, are such lovely and continual tributes to her!

lovely, the photos and the words. I always wondered about the title 'brock street'....glad to know it's origin. your wonderful description of the women in your life reminds me of truman capote's 'a christmas memory.' I hope I have that title right. I adore that story. do you know it? if not, I think you would like it.

Thanks for sharing the tender words about your grandmother Maxine. We are fortunate when we love someone so much that they enter our passive thoughts years after they have gone.

have a wonderful weekend.
