please advise

your thoughts.

here is the top contender for the weekend getaway. 2 bed, 1 bath and almost one acre. has been in the same family for 90 years and has a wonderful history. only 90 some miles from the city and right in that sweet spot price range.

of course, this one we did not see in person as i found it online after our day of cabin hunting with our friend and real estate agent in the woods. BUT i have a hunch from the other photo's of this place that we might have made an offer that day.

more to come, but in the meantime...what do you think? share all if and when you have time this weekend any experiences or knowledge you have about log cabins.

This place is just simply magical....a cabin completely wrapped in nature's embrace. My blood pressure dropped the minute I looked into the photo and I could almost smell the sweet scent of the surrounding forest.

Looks like a winner and at just-the-right-price? Definitely, take a gander ;).

Awesome. it is idyllic - the field stone, wood and setting. Really great. Add a nice stream or river nearby and perfect.

gorgeous etc but...ack- a realist..is it too dark in there all day long? Metal roof is good- won't rot in all that shade. Do you love to be outside all day and then come in to relax or do you love to be inside reading with a breeze coming in from the windows? If so, how much sun do you need?

So I did say awesome because it looks it but I have to say that back when I was searching for a house here in CT I took a look at a log cabin. What I did find out is the chinking is important to keep the house weather tight. The maintenance of the chinking between the logs, the logs - interior and exterior so you don't have uninvited little critters and the foundation. That's my limited (and somewhat "hey thats obvious") knowledge.
