now you see it...now you don't
after living in this great litttle flat in SF for 8 years and wanting to make a few changes and not spend $$ (since we rent), i decided it was high time to invest a wee little bit.
this little porch off the kitchen houses storage, a door that takes us to the roof top or downstairs to the garden and is also home to the refrigerator. i have wanted to hide that refrigerator for a loooooong time and just decided this was my next project.
with my budget in check, i asked my friend Kat from StyleKouncil to be on the look out for some swinging doors when she is out and about foraging. she quickly scored these swinging doors...and for under $50. done and done.
the rest is history and the dream never died...now i am just waiting for May West to appear.

not all that bad
so, hillside is still plugging right along, but still far from being complete. this is the "front of the house..where the outdoor living spaces are slowly coming together" we are finding ways to enjoy what we have and not miss a moment just because there is still so much to do. living in the moment.

squish, squish
back home after an uneventful weekend..and i came home to this. it is funny...no one ever sits in the living room expect the MO and me and i feel like everyone is missing out, but at the same time i feel like it is one of my best kept secrets i have.
jump in this sofa and you may never come out.

wood...aloe...& a man's best friend (insta-style)
so...in all honestly it seems like the little bit of energy i found to blog in the last few years has quickly diverted to the instant gratification of instagram. it is as easy as taking a photo, filtering it to enhance and publishing it for the world to see...or in my case 40 followers.
in an effort to catch up on my blogging...i am going to share some instagram moments at hillside as often as i can...it will hopefully keep me posting and the creative juices flowing.
this post consists of:
a photo of wood..from a fallen tree..one that came down on a windy night when i was at hillside alone. i heard the cracking of the branches and i grabbed bmo and ran to the front door. thinking for sure this was it...thank goodness the tree was a good 50 yards away, but sure did sound like the tree right above the property.
an old terracotta pot that has been painted several times..and the paint has chipped right off. found at junk store in san diego several years ago. $1
and....man's best buddy..the Mo.

hi there long lost blogging friends!! i know i know i know.....i honestly have not looked at brock street or any blogs since right before the holidays, i guess i needed a bit of a break.
hope this finds u all well.
i wanted to give u a little exterior progress report. the chain link gate is gone....yahoo!! we extended the stone wall too...and added some stones and of course more gravel. the saying remains the same "slow & steady...more slow than steady". progress is still progress....right?
