take your coat off

...and stay for a while.

this is the kind of careless ease i strive for with our homes, but it never seems to fall into place so effortlessly. i think i am too "tidy" for that (some say odc)

it looks as though they have spent lots of time at the flea markets...lots of history/memory indeed.

I am of like mind. The homes I love the most are always the ones that are simple and effortlessly stylish, as though they have come together over time...piece by piece...with things gathered at flea markets, on travels, in the corner antiques store or that obscure junk shop on a road trip. Everything melds together as if it was meant to be there. Every piece has a history, a good story, or a meaningful memory associated with it.

Hello:
We all, we believe, can and do admire the style of others and it is through looking that we formulate our own ideas, likes and dislikes which we then practise. This makes for individuality and is, as we are sure you will agree, always more satisfactory than attempting to copy.

coast- we definitely agree on this one. it does take time and it is like building a collection. slow and steady.

jane&lance- that is what is so great...it is so personal and individual. there is access for all of us now to design and inspiration, the chore is to not look like everyone else and that means stay true to you.

a country farmhouse: I LOVE YOUR BLOG and have forever. thanks for the post :)

These look pretty tidy to me B...and very similar to what I've seen of 'effortless' style at your abode. I think you share much more ease of style and taste than you give yourself credit for...I'd even say you could be twins! ;)
